The appstore for the HP Touchpad does not offer any Netflix, Hulu+, or other streaming video apps that Android and iOS users rely on to get their “fix” on the go.

Although there are no apps for these sites, there are many sites that will just work straight out of the web browser as they would on your desktop or laptop computer. Unfortunately, Netflix and Hulu+ are not among these, but there are a few other big players.

4. South Park Studios

5. SyFy Channel

This is only a preliminary list, and I will add to it as I test more sites. Please leave a comment with any sites you have found to work in the browser on the HP Touchpad, and I will add them.

splashtopremotehdiconFirst, you need to know upfront that there are no Netflix apps or browser hacks that I am aware of at this time to allow Netflix to work. There are some ways to watch Hulu with homebrew “hacking.

That being said, there is a way to watch both Netflix and Hulu on the HP Touchpad without and “hacking” whatsoever..

The Splashtop Remote HD app will connect to your PC (it has to be fast enough) and allow you to control your entire PC through the touch interface on your HP Touchpad.

Anything you can see, stream, and do on your PC, you can do through this Splashtop Remote HD app. I recommend it fore Android, and I highly recommend it for touchpad. The app is not free, but the few bucks is well worth it.

Not only can you discover computers on your home network through a shared network connection, but you can also discover computers that you have tied to your Google account.

The connection has to be good for the streaming to go smoothly, but it is worth trying!

One of your greatest app assets on the HP Touchpad is the web browser.

There is a lot of room for improvement of this resource, but because the HP Touchpad was designed to work with just about anything the internet could throw at it, web apps tend to work like a charm.

Try Grooveshark’s New HP Touchpad App!

Grooveshark Media Player On WebOS & HP TouchpadGet Your Groove On This Holiday Season With Grooveshark!

So here we go, Grooveshark and I go way back. I stumbled on them out of the blue one day, and they were running a special — so yada yada yada, the rest was history.

I got a cute t-shirt out of the deal too that I gave as a well recieved gift ;) .

If you do not already know who they are and what they do, you need to check out their free music service. It is like ITunes in your browser, but all of the music is free!

Recently, Grooveshark released an HP Touchpad app – Kudos for supporting WebOS Grooveshark — super uber kudos! Its free to download as well!

What is sweet about the HP Touchpad app is that unlike the other mobile versions of this service, it appears that you do not have to have a premium subscription to access all of the features of the app on the HP Touchpad.

I say this because one of the options is to “just use it” as opposed to log in.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, I stand corrected with this possible free use. To play music, you have to sign up for their two week trial with a 50 song limit.

However, as I mention later in the post, there are often lots of promos out there where you can get 3-month+ subscriptions for a buck.

How did it work for me once I tried it out?

I tested the login function, and I ended up having to restart the app once to get it connecting properly (may just be me though).

My playlists and everything showed up right away with killer album art and sweet sweet audio!

I was able to successfully “offline” a song, search for music of all types, favorite them, and all of the other usual functions. Overall, I am really impressed and especially thankful that they are willing to develop on the WebOS platform.

What About Grooveshark Subscription Service?

Looks like if you want to try the Grooveshark subscription service, the promo for a 3 month code (I got an easy 6 months out of the deal, as there was a follow up promo after fulfilling the first hurdle) by Dion Roy at Facebook is still on.

I am not affiliated with this artist, but as I said, I was able to get six months of free subscription service with Grooveshark for the price of one song at iTunes.
